Product details
Author: Estefan, Gloria
Release Date: 18-09-2007
Details: Product Description Estefan, Gloria Amazon.ca Gloria Estefan's legacy stretches far beyond her status as the gold standard in Latin music. She's a true musical chameleon. The bilingual singer has artfully--and effortlessly--colored her canvas with frilly pop, pulsing club grooves, dramatic balladry, tropical rhythms, and pensive folk musings. 90 Millas, Estefan's first Spanish-language disc in seven years, is a sterling addition to that canon. It's an homage to her native Cuba; the title refers to the distance from there to Florida, where Estefan resides. And indeed, 90 Millas masterfully bridges Estefan's two musical worlds. It's grounded in rhythms indigenous to Cuba and sparkles with pop shimmer. Sensual horns flirt with joyous percussion, piano, and guitars--guided by Estefan's gorgeous vocals. It's impossible to single out a highlight. Try to choose from among the lush, lazy strains of kickoff tune "Me Odio;" the festive crackle of "Lo Nuestro," "Pintame," "A Bailar," and "Esta Fiesta No Va Acabar;" the wistful glow of "Esperando." 90 Millas also boasts high-wattage guests (Carlos Santana, Paquito De Rivera, Andy Garcia, Sheila E, La India, Jose Feliciano, Arturo Sandoval), but it's ultimately Estefan who makes these musical miles worth traveling. --Joey Guerra
