Details: Product description RUSH Amazon.ca Rush's story is an old one, but one worth repeating: stick around long enough and you'll eventually make it into the in crowd. Having spent more than a decade selling millions of records to arena rock-loving teens and musical-instrument-store habitués, the art-rock trio found themselves in the early '90s receiving praise from hep cats in Living Colour and Primus, not to mention some (gasp) critics. The double-disc Chronicles surveys their first 16 albums, mapping their trip from overwrought epics ("2112," once a whole LP side, is here reduced to slightly under seven minutes) to tighter, even pop-wise tracks like "Tom Sawyer" and the Police-esque "New World Man." Geddy Lee's screech and drummer-lyricist Neil Peart's heavy-handed parables ("The Trees," gad) remain one of music's most distinctly acquired tastes, but it's hard to deny the outfit's way with a hook in the midst of all their chops-worship. --Rickey Wright
