GYEON Q² LeatherShield EVO – Ceramic Protection for Automotive Leather

GYEON Q² LeatherShield EVO is a ceramic leather coating developed for modern coated automotive upholstery. It adds a protective layer that helps resist everyday dirt, liquid contamination and clothing dye transfer while retaining the leather’s original appearance and soft feel.

This is particularly useful on seats and bolsters that see frequent contact, where keeping light-coloured upholstery clean can be a challenge. A single carefully applied layer supports easier maintenance without intentionally making the leather glossy or slippery. Correct leather identification, cleaning and drying are essential before application.

Key Benefits

  • Helps resist staining: Reduces the opportunity for dirt and clothing dyes to become embedded in the finish.
  • Water-repellent protection: Provides a barrier against everyday liquid contamination.
  • Original appearance: Designed to preserve the factory matte finish and comfortable feel.
  • Easier cleaning: Makes routine care more manageable on compatible leather.
  • Single-layer application: One even layer provides the intended protection.

How to Use

  1. Identify the leather type. Do not use on open-pore, aniline or semi-aniline upholstery.
  2. Vacuum, clean with a suitable leather cleaner, remove all cleaner residue and allow the leather to dry completely.
  3. Test an inconspicuous area before coating the full interior.
  4. Apply evenly with the supplied applicator, treating one seat panel or element at a time. Avoid pooling in seams and perforations.
  5. Allow the coating to settle rather than immediately buffing it away. Level uneven areas without adding more product and inspect again after about 20 minutes.
  6. Allow at least 6 hours of curing before using the surface, following the enclosed manual for full aftercare.

Application Tips and Things to Watch For

This coating is not intended to repair cracked, peeling or worn-through leather finishes. It also does not make upholstery stain-proof: remove spills and fresh dye transfer promptly, using a suitable gentle cleaning method.

For nappa or semi-aniline upholstery requiring a different treatment, check compatibility with GYEON LeatherCoat REDEFINED. Leather names alone do not always identify the surface finish, so check the vehicle’s upholstery specification when uncertain.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will LeatherShield EVO make leather shiny or stiff?

On compatible leather, it is designed to preserve the existing finish, softness and feel. An even application matters: excess material and uneven drying can produce a less consistent appearance.

Does it stop blue-jean staining completely?

It helps resist dye transfer and makes cleaning easier, but it is not a guarantee against every dye or exposure. Inspect high-contact areas regularly and clean fresh transfer before it becomes established.

Can it be applied to every leather interior?

No. It is for modern coated leather. Avoid aniline, semi-aniline and other open-structure upholstery. Choose protection appropriate to the actual leather finish.

How do I clean the leather afterwards?

Use a suitable mild leather cleaner and soft cleaning tools. Start gently, wipe away residue and avoid unnecessary abrasion. Regular maintenance remains important even with a protective coating.
